History of world poetry day

UNESCO first adopted 21 March as World Poetry Day during its 30th General Conference in Paris in 1999. UNESCO declaration says, to "give fresh recognition and impetus to national, regional and international poetry movements".

There are still some arguments over celebrating the world poetry day on the march as It was generally celebrated in October, but in the latter part of the 20th century the world community celebrated it on the 15th, the birthday of Virgil, the Roman epic poet and poet laureate under Augustus. The tradition to keep an October date for national or international poetry day celebrations still holds in many countries. The United Kingdom generally uses the first Thursday in October, which is 2018 falls on October 4, but elsewhere a different October, or even sometimes a November date, is celebrated.

How to world celebrate poetry day


Every year around the world in schools or colleges or private organization, celebrate world poetry day by organizing poetry competition. They would remember one of the finest poetry of the world and the power of poetry which can change the kings of the empire.
Nowadays, every year, people would go to the internet and share their favorite line of the poem on the #WorldPoetryDay hashtag. It would trend in twitter for hours and millions of people would join them.
