Martin Luther King Day, it's on the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. it’s a national holiday in the USA and it was celebrated on 3^rd Monday of January whichever the closest to the date 15^th January of every year. Martin Luther King Jr is a civil right leader who leads a nonviolent movement in America to give equal right to African Americans.

Martin Luther King Jr was shot dead in 1968 at Lorraine Motel in Memphis. After that, it was proposed that his birthday was to be celebrated by a national holiday. The campaign was run in order to achieve that as Martin Luther King Jr would be the first private citizen to get a national holiday, first one will be George Washington as his birthday celebrated as presidents day.

It was proposed to Congress that it should be celebrated national wide as a holiday, more than 6 million signatures were gathered in 1980 to support the Martin Luther King Day. After a long session of arguments finally, president Ronald Reagan signed the national holiday into law in 1983.

That day people would do public service and help other people. It was called “A Day On, not a Day Off” as even if it’s a holiday, people need to work in order to honor Martin Luther King Jr. anyone can attend the community service and help around. People can attend parades, rallies, and speeches which were organized around the country.

Its also celebrate in Hiroshima Japan, which is the only place in the world outside of America where they celebrate Martin Luther King Day. The reason would be Martin Luther King Jr was an anti-nuclear activist and they would celebrate it to spread the life and work of his.

He was a Baptist minister and civil right activist which lead the civil right movement from the 50s to 1968, he leads this movement by the nonviolent way and peacefully. His movement inspired millions of African American to join him for the civil right moment. His speech, “I have a dream” is one of the most inspiring speech in the history which made him the center of the movement. He was the leader of a protester in Montgomery Bus Boycott, which was sparked because other cities have to give up their seat to white people. Rosa park was arrested when she refused to give up her seat and which lead to Montgomery Bus Boycott. In which people refused to use public transport for 381 days.

Martin Luther King Jr's nonviolent movement was heavily inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and because of this, he became a national icon. Which is why we celebrate the Martin Luther King Day, to remember him as he said standing near Lincoln monuments in Washington, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.'”

Good Friday, one of the most important day in the year from all the Christians around the world. There are many debates on why it called good Friday when the reason for it was the death of Jesus. Jesus died at that day by crucifying and this why it was celebrated as Good Friday.

As it’s a not a day to celebrate still people remember the son of God who gave his life and teaches a valuable lesson to humanity. Most Christians go to church and sing hymn and pry. Most people wear colorless cloths or black to mourn the death of god. Candle won't is lit near the cross and most people fasting and abstinence. St. Patrick’s Day, it’s one of the most celebrated day even if it's not a holiday, it has been celebrating for more than a century. People would wait for the parades and join it to celebrate the birth of Saint Patrick. It is one of the days when people remember the Saint Patrick and their Irish heritage.

Saint Patrick was Christian missionary who is one of the first to spread Christianity in Ireland. He died in Ireland on 17^th March and that is why every year on 17^th march known as St. Patrick’s Day. He was born in a wealthy family in the 5^th century and at age of 16, he was kidnapped by pagans. For next six-year, he works as a shepherd and that is when he found the god and then run away to Ireland.

In his 30 years of work, he converted whole Ireland to Christianity and open schools and missionary all around the country. That is why he was one of the most revered saints in Christianity. From 9^th and 10^th century, people of Ireland celebrate the day as Feast of Saint Patrick.

The celebration and parade were first organized in America 1762, when Irish solder in English army march through the new york with their bagpipes and music, later in 1848 New York Irish Aid societies decided to hold one big parade rather many small ones.

Today the St. Patrick’s parade in America is one of the oldest and biggest parades. 150,000 people participate in the parade and more than 3 million people line through the 1.5-mile parade to watch it. it would take five hours to complete the parade and many cities in America organized parade too.

One of the uniqueness of the day is to wear green. Why people wear green on St. Patrick’s Day you might ask? It was started in the 17^th century as it has rooted Ireland as island flag have green color in it. also, it’s the color of shamrock which was used by Saint Patrick to explain the holy trinity to people of Ireland.

Do you know they have dyed the river in green in 1962? It was one of the unique ways to celebrate the Saint Patrick day and from then, every year they dyed the Chicago River in green. Although they make sure to use green vegetable dye and in less quantity so it won't affect the and pollutes the river.

One of the reasons to celebrate the St. Patrick’s Day is to drink Irish beer and cider. As the restriction of drinking is varied off for Lenten, drinking Irish whiskey and beer is part of the St. Patrick’s Day celebration.

Black Friday, we always wondered where this name came from? What was it relate to? What was happen? But all our thoughts went away on same black Friday when we are standing on the line or nowadays, holding cards in our hands in front of PC to grab a good deal.

Black Friday isn’t a holiday, well not by law but it is by nature of people. The problem begins in the 50s when factory worker skips the day after Thanksgiving and call in sick. Now you can imagine, getting your half of the worker falling sick, you must know that it was just a way to extend their holiday to four.

There are more than just one reason. As no one knows where this term “Black Friday” came from, everyone has their own version of Black Friday story. Another theory was related to big traffic jams day after the Thanksgiving and all the police officer have to be on the job as it will be busy day and traffic would be chaotic. One theory was surface on the internet that black Friday was related to slave traders as they would give discount next day of thanksgiving, well there was no proof to back that story but one version of the origin of black friends look legit. The day after Thanksgiving is the first day of Christmas shopping, which mean after waiting the whole year and losing profits, finally store owner would gain profit.

In terms of business, the loss would be inked in red and profit in black. So, it would shift from red to black and that is why its called black Friday. One thing we know for sure that it doesn’t matter where this word came from, all we want to find out is where we get the most discount.

The day after Thanksgiving is when anticipation crimes begin, and most people started their shopping. Parades were organized and at the end of the parade, there will be Santa. Cyber Monday, which is on following the tradition of Black Friday, happens to be after the Thanksgiving weekend. The name Cyber Monday suggest that it has to do with the internet. That is why it doesn’t have any long history.

The name Cyber Monday was coined by Ellen Davis and Scott Silverman in 2005 to make people shop more online. It made an overnight sensation and become one of the biggest shopping online days of the year.

Now hundreds of websites are offering deals online and last year, American people spend more than $6.5 billions on Cyber Monday deal which was record-breaking. There are many reasons that people are opting for cyber Monday and not the regular black Friday deals.

When you can get anything from your phone or laptop, why bother going there. Especially in the festival season when you cannot find parking space and traffic is just hectic. American people are turning to cyber Mondays because for the same reasons. They don’t want to stand in line, they don’t want to get in a store which is filled with hundreds of people. They want the same deal but from the internet.

If we can answer it in one word, discount. All the online stores would be offering mobile and TV and laptops at ridiculous price that anyone could go for it. more than that, they offer free shipping too. Some of the website who have offered free shipping get more number of order as people are looking for a way to get their products in cheap.

Cyber Monday is not a traditionally originated day, but it would be one of the most awaited days. The reason behind this would be timing. They know that people have already tried their luck in black Friday and most people have to go home without anything. That is why they offer great deals and discounts on following Monday, as we know that after Thanksgiving, its official Christmas shopping time, people would go for the Cyber Monday.

Presidents day, nowadays it seems like every other day is the president’s day, but the original purpose of the president’s day was to celebrate our president and keep them in our memory. But did you know that it was moved, more than once?

History of president’s day somewhat looks like a plot from Hollywood drama. If you search for president’s day and found a Wikipedia page, it will redirect you to Washington's Birthday. For our love and admiration of Washington, it was declared a holiday way back in 1879. But it was started before that in the year 1800 after just two months of demise, people would celebrate his birthday. But did you know that Abraham Lincoln was born on 12^th February but not all state would celebrate his birthday?

So, they have decided to merge Washington and Lincoln birthday as one and celebrate both president’s birthday on third Monday of every February. Not until 1980, Washington birthday was celebrated as president’s day and then it becomes one of the days when we remember our president and their achievement. It becomes a day when we celebrate patriotism and remembrance.

Later it becomes a holiday and to boost the retail sales, so it would be a day to celebrate and go shopping as you can get a great deal on that day. The movement to celebrate president’s day and not just Washington's birthday really warmed up after the 2000s. now we know that how Washington birthday inspires people to celebrate life and hard work of every president.

One of the fun fact, even our two presidents, William Henry Harrison and Ronald Reagan was born in February, their birthday never came into president’s day, they come too early or too late.
